Don't forget the ceiling!

It may be way up there, but integrate the entire room into your design scheme and come up with something interesting one every square inch of your space. Treatments such as  tin, wood paneling, to faux painting, to stucco work can enhance the room experience and add to your design. 

Sometimes the beauty of a ceiling starts with architecture.  A brick dome, a cupola with inset lighting or antique wood beams can all give great character to a room.  But if your room has a flat ceiling, there are still many things you can do such as faux paint, add tin or wallpaper or even plaster designs.
