Feliz Dia de los Muertos!

Day of the Dead is mainly a Latin holiday, tied to the Catholic celebration of "All Saints Day." Both festivities are about the gatherings of family and friends to pray for friends and family members who have died.

The Day of the Dead has taken on a very colorful form in Mexico where it is a national holiday. Family members set up altars to commemorate the death of their friends.  They put out the deceased persons favorite foods and liquors to honor them.

What I like the most about Dia de Los Muertos is the creative "calavera Catrina" make up designs that women paint themselves in to resemble the dead icon.

Happy Day of the Dead!
